One of the first things new traders ask: is it actually easy to withdraw from XM? The process itself is fairly straightforward, but there's one rule that trips people up more than anything else.
Steps to Withdraw From Your XM Account
Log in to the Members Area
Sign in using your XM account email and password.
Go to the Withdraw Menu
Click Withdraw, then choose the trading account you want to pull funds from.
Choose a Withdrawal Method
XM generally requires withdrawals through the same method used for your most recent deposit, up to that deposit amount.
Confirm and Wait for Processing
Enter the amount, confirm, then wait for the XM team to process your request.
The Important Rule: "Same Method" Withdrawals
This is what confuses new traders the most: XM, like most regulated brokers, requires you to withdraw through the same method you used to deposit, up to the amount deposited through that method. Any profit beyond that can then be withdrawn through other methods. This rule exists to prevent money laundering — it's not an arbitrary hurdle XM puts up to make life harder.
Why Is My Withdrawal Delayed?
- Identity verification isn't fully complete (e.g., an expired document)
- The withdrawal amount exceeds what was ever deposited through that specific method
- Open trading positions are holding margin, leaving insufficient free balance
- A delay on the bank or payment provider's end, not XM's
